Butterfly Life Cycle at E.J. Sand

Recently, some of our students had the opportunity to observe the butterfly life cycle for their Science class.  The larvae (caterpillars) were tiny when they arrived at the beginning of May.  From larvae, they entered the pupa stage where they formed cocoons.  While it looked like they were sleeping, the real work was happening inside the cocoon where butterflies were being formed.

Once our butterflies formed, we released them into the wild!  Here are some pictures:
