On Wednesday, February 24th we will be acknowledging ‘pink shirt day’.
Pink shirt day began several years ago, after a boy in grade 9 was
bullied by two grade twelve boys for wearing a pink polo shirt to school.
When two other boys heard this story they decided to go to a local discount
store to buy fifty pink shirts. Then they emailed other students at their
school requesting that they wear pink to support the boy who was bullied.
The next day, many students came to school wearing pink to stand up against
bullying. The story spread across the country and soon support grew for this boy and all people who are bullied.
All EJ students are encouraged to wear something with pink on it, or a pink shirt if you have one!
We look forward to seeing our whole school community showing their support against bullying on Wednesday February 24th!
